Case-Shiller Index Update: Chicago Home Price Index on the Rise

Chicago residential home prices overall have been on the rise in 2016.

So said the S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller Index report as of the third quarter 2016: the Index reported a 6.33% positive return for year-to-date as of September 2016 for Chicago.

While the returns for the short-term were positive, Case-Shiller’s data does show that Chicago has rebounded more slowly over the longer-term when compared with other metropolitan areas in the US. For the five years ended September 2016, the

Case-Shiller 20-City Composite Home Price NSA Index gained 6.20%. Chicago by contrast, gained 3.08%
