The holidays remain list-making time. In keeping with the spirit of the season, here’s our list of 11 real estate publications, most available online and in print, that professional and/or passive investors should peruse.

1. BiggerPockets is the place for new and experienced real estate investors to go online for investment education via blogs, calculators, guides, webinars and other tools.

2. Chicago Agent Magazine is the Chicago metropolitan area’s “leading source of local news and information for the well-informed residential real estate professional.” For the professional real estate investor – including SpringView Investments – Chicago Agent publishes valuable current market reports, commentaries, and research.

3. Crain’s New York Business is a New York City-centric publication that includes NYC commercial real estate goings-on as a crucial part of its daily business coverage.

4. DSNews calls itself “The Homepage of the Service Industry,” and provides news, commentaries, webcasts, and directories for real estate investors and other industry professionals.

5. HousingWire is a repository of current news and research on the mortgage finance and residential housing industry.

6. Inman News reports on brokerage, marketing, mortgage, regulations, and technology, among other topics.

7. National Mortgage News focuses on what’s happening in mortgage origination, secondary markets, servicing, and technology in the mortgage markets.

8. National Real Estate Investor focuses on all commercial real estate – multi-family housing, retail, industrial, medical, self-storage, and even single-family housing.

9. Realtor Magazine is published by the NAR – the National Association of Realtors. The rag includes news on laws and regulations, and more for industry professionals.

10. Realty Times writes on real estate news, professional advice and market outlooks.

11. RealtyTrac has a robust database of current foreclosed, defaulted and bank-owned properties.
