Does Your Single-Family Home Tenant Have Renter’s Insurance?

Should home renters have renter’s insurance? Not surprisingly, Allstate says so, and they have a point.

However, the majority of home renters (65%) do not carry any insurance for their personal possessions, as illustrated in the accompanying infographic from Allstate. By contrast, 95% of homeowners carry insurance.

Only one-third of renters even really know what they own, in terms of not having a photographic or printed inventory of their stuff.

If you are a landlord, you should have some form of landlord or property insurance. Make sure you know what your insurance covers, and does not cover.

Investor landlords in single-family homes…do you ask or require your tenants to insure and protect their things?
