Mortgages Still Legal for The Undocumented

One would think that, in this time of stepped-up ICE raids and a President who wants to build a wall to keep immigrants out, it would be almost impossible for the undocumented to qualify for a mortgage. Think again.

According to a recent article in The New York Daily News, there are still several banks and mortgage companies who will provide mortgages to these people. Yes, these lenders do ask for a bigger down payment and they also scrutinize their credit scores more carefully, but there’s nothing illegal about lending to “Illegal” immigrants.

To get a mortgage, the buyer will need either a valid Social Security card or an Individual Tax Identification Number; plus a passport.
