CEO Sean Dobson Deploying A.I. for Unwanted Properties


Why is this man smiling? Well, first of all, he made a fortune in the housing crash.

And now he’s turning his focus to artificial intelligence to go after properties that most investors won’t touch.

Sean Dobson is the head honcho at Amherst Holdings, a real estate investing firm with $20 billion under management. It owns or manages 16,000 single-family homes scattered across the Midwest and the Sunbelt. That makes Amherst one of the biggest, fastest-growing players in institutionally owned rental homes.

Main Street Renewal, an arm of Amherst, is adding 1,000 homes/month with the use of A.I. The Main Street homes, a $3.2 billion investment, makes a lot of money for Sean, in the neighborhood of $300 million per year. No wonder he’s smiling!

Dobson: “We want to get to 1 million homes in the next 15 years or so.” That’s sixty times the number of homes Amherst owns today.

Is it just bravado or is Sean onto something that will change the SFR market in ways still unknown?
