Amazon Plans Distribution Centers In Downers Grove and Palatine

Amazon has cut deals for new warehouses in Downers Grove and Palatine… with more to come. No word yet on how many workers will be employed, but it will undoubtably be a boon to the Chicagoland economy.

Real estate has become an increasingly important part of Amazon’s business the past few years. Driving that lust for new distribution centers, is its goal of one-day delivery turnaround for its Prime customers.

Amazon has also confirmed plans for warehouses in Skokie, Melrose Park and Channahon, and has just bought a huge parcel in Bolingbrook.

Presently, Amazon is the ninth-biggest employer in the Chicago area, with 14,610 full-time workers at the end of 2019, up 4.2% from the prior year.

Those employment numbers are sure to rise substantially in the near future.
