Amazon has leased more industrial space in the Chicago area this year than any other company by far., With more consumers staying at home, shopping online is booming, accelerating the need for more warehouse space.
Amazon took a breather in the Q3, signing just one lease for two buildings in Cicero while other companies plowed ahead. For example, General Motors leased a one- million-square-foot warehouse in Joliet, the biggest local lease of the quarter, according to brokerage firm Collier’s International.
