Chicagoland Warehouses Appear To Be Recession-Proof

The Covid-19 economy is not recovering as well as some people think. Tens of thousands of business have shuttered their doors and are looking for another federal rescue package.

However, in the warehouse businesses in Chicagoland, you would never know there was a recession.

Big warehouses remain in high demand. Ecommerce and logistics firms continue to expand. Amazon has leased more industrial space in the Chicago area this year than any other company by far., With more consumers staying at home, shopping online is booming, accelerating the need for more warehouse space.

Amazon took a breather in the Q3, signing just one lease for two buildings in Cicero while other companies plowed ahead. For example, General Motors leased a one- million-square-foot warehouse in Joliet, the biggest local lease of the quarter, according to brokerage firm Collier’s International.

Mr. Willig engages and coordinates a professional team of real estate brokers, general contractors, leasing agents, and property managers in order to rehabilitate, lease and maintain the properties he acquires for SpringView Investments. He has over 20 years of finance and accounting experience.
