Ford Opens Facility in Southeast Side Industrial Park

The good news from Chicagoland keeps a’comin’!

Ford Motor Co. has recently opened a 360,000-square-foot materials handling facility on the city’s Southeast side.

The facility is significant because it’s the first building completed within an expansive project called Commerce Park Chicago. The project is expected to create as many as 1,400 jobs in light manufacturing, assembly and logistics facilities.

Mayor Lori Lightfoot and other officials attended an opening ceremony marking the Ford facility’s opening and the recent start of construction on two of the remaining four warehouses planned on the site.

Ford’s facility is the first of five warehouses NorthPoint Development plans in its nearly 200-acre, $164 million Commerce Park Chicago industrial campus.
